만주3 공터에서 작가 ‘김훈’의 장편소설 ‘공터에서는 가장인 ‘마동수’ 그리고 그의 두 아들 ‘마장세’와 ‘마차세’까지 1920년대에서 1980년에 이르는 이야기를 담고 있다. 일제강점기 만주 일대를 떠돌았던 마동수의 파란만장한 삶, 해방 이후 혼란과 한국 전쟁, 군부 독재 시절과 월남전, 대통령의 죽음 등 그 시대의 다양한 사건이 등장한다. 작가 김훈의 아버지는 마동수와 비슷한 시기에 살았으며, 우리 아버지도 같은 세대다. 그래서 이 책은 내게 더 가깝게 느껴졌다. 아버지도 만주를 떠 돌다 일본군대에 들어가 남방의 어느 섬에서 해방을 맞았으며, 국군 장교로 북진해 고향 땅을 밟았다가 중공군에 밀려 부모 형제를 버려둔 채 남쪽으로 내려왔다. 아버지도 어머니도 모두 마동수와 그의 아내 '이도순'처럼 요양원에서 쓸쓸히 홀로.. 2023. 8. 15. 2.
