My Story62 25. October Treat In 1960’s, Korea was an under-developed poor country and we were short of almost everything. Japan who lost the war, on the other hand, took the advantage of Korean War and recovered quickly. Unites States used Japan as the staging base for Korean War and Japanese economy greatly benefited from it. They rebuilt the destroyed industries quickly. United States provided relief and surplus supplies .. 2021. 1. 6. 24. He is the Boss I subscribed most of the magazines and papers for the teens. There was a comic called ‘Teen 007’ in one of the papers. The comic showed unrealistic and advanced weapons and machineries. We now see and use many of them. I could send poems, essays, and even short stories to these periodicals. They required the name of the school and the grade. I submitted my writings and wrote I was home schooling.. 2021. 1. 5. 23. My Car Era Initially, father started the farm with 300 chicken and bee hives. He decided to expand his chicken farm. He sold ‘slab’ house and the farm in Gu Pa Bal, and bought larger piece of land in Byeok Je. He built a house and large warehouses across the street for chicken farm. Byeok Je, then, was countryside and there were fields and farms around. There was Korean military base not far from our place.. 2021. 1. 3. 22. American Family An American office came to visit us. Father tried to speak to him in English and he did not go far with him. So, I got to talk to him. He was the second in command of US missile company in Sam Song Ni. His wife and three children were coming to live with him in few days. He was looking for a place to live and saw our house which was the cleanest in the neighborhood.
